Company Geoterm, a.s. was established in August 30th 2001 in order to implement project „Use of geothermal energy in Košice basin“.

The whole project is based on conclusions of three geothermal test drills which proved sufficient parameters to use geothermal source for the purposes of heating, eventually electricity production.

The main objectives of project are:

• Drilling of 5 – 6 geothermal doublets with depth of 2 - 3km, construction of geothermal centers and transport of geothermal water through heat pipes to TEKO company
  
  
• Use geothermal source, clean and renewable energy in order to reduce emissions and greenhouse gasses in Košice region, to increase environmental quality of its inhabitants
  
  
• Cooperate together with TEKO on central heating supply of Košice city and help to transform the fuel base on environmentally higher quality
  
  
• Help to stabilize heat prices in city of Košice
  
  
• Help to meet EU directives which require increase in use of renewable sources of energy and reduction of greenhouse gasses production
